P31 bathymetry:

ASCII navigation and bathymetry data file was obtained from 
from Frank Delahoyde (ODF) 10/27/98, ODF format. 
Assumed that depths are corrected (see note at end).

"P31.nav" is the original data, ODF format.  
    Depths assumed to be corrected.

"P31_bathy_gdc.dat" is in Geological Data Center
    format, corrected depths only.

"p31_bathydist.dat" is the decimated bathymetry file, projected
    onto straight lines between station positions, used for plotting
    the vertical sections.

"p31_sta_bdep.dat" is the station list, with corrected bottom
    depths as corrected from the uncorrected depths in 
    the p31su.txt file (WHPO station summary file)

Hi Sharon,
Our bathymetry data are typically corrected as best we can. This is ship
(and cruise) specific. We apply Carter Table corrections if we are
digitizing underway PDR charts by hand. In the case of P31 on the Thompson,
bathymetry were acquired from both their Hydrosweep multibeam system and from a
Bathy2000 bathymetry acquisition system. No further corrections were applied to
these data as it was never discovered exactly what was done to them before we
got it.
