P02 and P02T bathymetry:
 07/18/03 LDT

The section P02 is composed of three portions (4 separate cruise legs):
P02W, P02C, P02E (Leg 1), P02E (Leg2)

Underway bathymetry were collected only on P02C. 
Ascii data files for P02C were acquired from Masao Fukasawa 12/05/01.

The section P02T is a single cruise, with no underway bathymetry.

"p02c_bathy_original.zip" are the original data, in 5 files, from M. Fukasawa.  
    The format is given below.
    It is assumed that these data are at 1500 m/sec sound speed, uncorrected.

"p02c_bathy_edit.zip" are the original data, in 5 files, 
    partially edited by L. Talley.  
    The format is the same as the original data files, as given below.

"p02c_bathy_gdc.dat" is the edited data in GDC format, in a single file.

"p02_bathydist.dat" is the bathymetry file from the Smith and Sandwell
    altimetric product, used for plotting the p02 and p02t vertical sections.

"p02_sta_bdep.dat" is the station list for P02, with bottom
    depths as taken from the p02wsu.txt, p02csu.txt and p02esu.txt 
    files (WHPO format station summary files)

"p02t_sta_bdep.dat" is the station list for P02T, with bottom
    depths as taken from the p02tsu.txt file (WHPO format station 
    summary file)

Comments on P02C underway bathymetry data quality:

General impression: poor throughout, difficult to determine which 
  depths to retain.  An attempt to hand edit produced the files
  in the "..edit.zip" file  

Therefore chose to use a different bathymetry
  product (Smith/Sandwell) for the vertical sections.
